Traveling to see the world is an amazing thing. You can witness natural wonders you could only have dreamed of, meet some amazing people who open up a new culture to you, and you can rack a lot of steps up on the pedometer when you’re done!

But if you want to have a bit more adventure at home, there are options for that too. There are plenty of adventurous activities to look into that are only a drive away - you just need to find them!

Sign Up to Bungee Jump

Bungee jumping takes a lot of courage! But if you’re keen to try something adrenaline fuelled and a bit different, this is definitely the activity to try out. You won’t need to go too far to find a bungee jumping provider, and even if the best views can be found abroad, you can build up your resilience towards jumping in the quieter pastures available at home.

Give it a try just the one time to see how you feel about it; even if your heart doesn’t stop pounding for a while, you still did that!

Try an Off Roading Track

Off roading might sound a little extreme, however it’s also one of the most accessible and potentially safest things you can try, especially if you’ve been driving for years now. Of course, you can’t just take any car off road, so be sure your vehicle’s suspension can handle it and that you’re using specialized off road tires that can handle all terrains. And we definitely recommend heading to a few off road rallies; you’ll be able to talk to experienced off roaders and even make some new friends.

Go Rafting

Rafting is a great sport for those who love the water, and as long as there’s a river or lake an hour or two away, rafting could be the best adventurous activity for you. Of course, you could try the more gentle kayaking first, to make sure you’re comfortable in piloting a small boat yourself, but you can also sign up for rafting lessons or a rafting experience with your friends. And remember, you’ll always have water safety equipment on!

Rock Climb and Abseil

Rock climbing is something a lot of people have tried, even without any of the safety equipment. It’s easy to drive down to a rocky area, climb up a few rocks and get maybe 10 feet off the ground, and then half climb, half jump your way back down again. Fun right? Absolutely!

So why not take the activity a step further and try some serious rock climbing, or even abseiling for the first time? The latter is more about coming back down the mountain face but it’s often an activity also offered by rock climbing centers.

Adventurous activities are just around the corner! If you don’t have the money for traveling, these are the kind of hobbies you should pick up. An occasional little shot of adrenaline never hurt anyone!
