DT: How long have you been a makeup artist? Did you have any mentors?

TD: I've been a makeup artist for 20 years. My mentors have been Daniel Green and Matiki Anoff, both in film and television. Daniel taught me set etiquette especially when around celebrities whether it was a print or film/television assignment. This was extremely helpful and empowering.

I learned the business of film from Matiki. She taught me how to do film and tv makeup, adjust my technique, learn breakdown a script, and negotiate with producers. [This] was extremely kind of her because I arrived in the union (Local 798) much later in life; and, I will never forget it. I consider her a mentor, big sister, and friend.

DT: In a business where image is key, share some of your favorite beauty products, do's, and don'ts for yourself or clients.

TD: My favorite beauty products are skincare products:  La Neige Sleeping Mask, Tracy Martin Enzyme Exfoliating Mask, and Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream.

I always suggest wearing mascara and lashes when you're going on COVID-19 dates (laughs). But seriously, I don't like rules, just be the best version of yourself.

DT: How important are beauty trends to you?

TD: Beauty trends are just as important as fashion trends. You have to see what works best for you. Remember, makeup is considered luxury; treat yourself to the BEST!

DT: As we start a new decade, what intentions have you set?

TD: I love challenging myself and switching it up. Manifesting more money, building relationships, expanding my skincare knowledge and brand.

DT: What great lesson would you share with your younger self?

TD: I would say to 10-year-old Tamara, "you are beautiful, keep your spirit high, and keep learning."

DT: Are you living your purpose?

TD: I am living on purpose. I'm very aware; and, do things that matter to me and intentional about the now.

DT: Finish this sentence, "the shift I would like to see in the world is…"

TD: "…more compassion."Name:  Tamara Delbridge
