After decades in the greatest city (NYC) in the world, Brett and Yvonna Wright did what many American families have done, sort of. They packed up their Harlem Brownstone and moved the family out of the city in search of a simpler way of life. They never imagined their search for the perfect property would lead them to a nearly 200-year-old fixer-upper farmhouse on five acres of land, just 20 miles outside of New York City. But it turned out to be the perfect find for Yvonna, Brett, and their two young daughters, Lola and Marley for whom the farm is named after. Brett (an entrepreneur and publisher) was immediately drawn to the business of running a farm, while his beautiful wife Yvonna (an actress and former soap opera star) fell in love with the old barn which she would like to turn into a yoga studio and community theater. Knowing little to nothing about farming and committed to working the projects themselves, the Wrights are determined to restore their old farm into the beautiful property it once was, and everyone's got a job in the family business. From tilling and planting their new garden, to scooping up chicken poop, to helping make and market their beautiful hand-poured beeswax candles, there's never a dull moment, and always work to be done. But, at the end of the day what the Wright's enjoy most is family time and getting back to the basics. We finally had a chance to chat and tune into one another's energy last year (2019). You were very open, honest, and nurturing. You left a lasting impression. Thank you for taking to the time to chat with me and share part of your journey with our readers..DT: How long have you been in your chosen career as an actress? When did your holistic journey begin, especially Lomar Farms with your husband, Brett Wright?.YW: I have been an actress, since 1996, working mainly on television. Some of my first jobs were Days of Our Lives, Guiding Light, and currently, on Law & Order SVU..I started my holistic journey, I would say, while growing up in Fresno, California, having a mom from the Caribbean, [with] her love of the earth and herbal remedies; and, my dad being a medical doctor. It was perfect awareness of Eastern and Western medicine ideology..About 7 years ago, my family and I left NYC and moved to a farm upstate. The documentary, "More Than Honey" inspired us to open Lomar Farms to mainly contribute to the honeybee population..DT: Do you infuse Reiki energy into all your work?.YW: I do infuse intentional energy of light into my products, especially the candles. I pour the candles out of the vessel from the position of my heart chakra. Not quite Reiki, but (definitely) an infusion of intentional energy..DT: What intentions have you set for this new decade?.YW: My intention for Lomar Farms to grow organically. So, saying "yes" to the right retail partnerships and trusting my intuition. Lomar Farms will be a fully formed lifestyle brand..Also, really owning the feminine energy, the balance and intuitive practices that are much needed. Moving forward with grace and not taking anything personally…let it go..DT: What great lesson would you share with your younger self?.YW: The lesson I would share with my younger self is, "it's safe to be in your feminine energy." Also, "life isn't that serious and have more fun.".DT: What is your purpose?.YW: My purpose is doing what gives me the most joy which is helping people discover their best self. I love seeing a transformation in people..DT: Finish this sentence, "the shift I would like to see in the world is…".YW: "…honoring our feminine wisdom and what that looks like. More communing with nature, listening, and trusting our intuition. And, using our gifts as healers"..DT: As a mother, what lessons are your children downloading?.YW: I teach my daughters that we are in this realm figuring it out. I'm not afraid to show my successes and failures. Be careful of the words we speak and to live intuitively through our bodies. Trust..Name: Yvonna Kopacz-Wright.Job Title: Actress/Bee-Keeper/ Owner of Lomar Farms.Instagram: @lomarfarms and @yvonnakopaczwright.Website: www.lomarfarms.com
