DT: Thank you for taking the time for this interview, especially given your busy schedule. Let's dive right in. Where did you grow up?

MB: I grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

DT: Who were your inspirations during your childhood? Who inspires you today?

MB: Growing up, I was inspired by my mom and siblings. As I matured, I recognized the drive and discipline I inherited from my father. Today, I'm inspired by fellow actors, the unsung heroes behind the scenes, as well as individuals like you, Danessa Myricks and Sir John.

DT: Our paths first crossed on the set of "Law and Order SVU" years ago, and I felt an instant bond. You've since taken lead roles on various shows. How does that feel, and does it demand a heightened sense of discipline and responsibility?

MB: Leading a show is simultaneously an honor and a tremendous responsibility. Jamal Hill once shared a lesson he learned from Will Smith with me, saying, “the lead person sets the tone for the set.” I internalized that and engage fully with the crew and fellow actors. It definitely demands a lot of discipline. An interesting memory from an audition, a renowned actress and director signaled "red light," hinting to her team that I got the part which was a new term for me and she later told me, she knew she wanted me in a role.

DT: Along with acting, you're also a businesswoman with a focus on beauty. Can you tell us more about your new line?

MB: As a formerly shy Muslim girl, I began my entrepreneurial journey young, dabbling in hair braiding, nail salons, and more. In New York, while studying and stepping into modeling and acting, I gained insights from makeup artists. The essence of Maryam Beauty is to bolster women's confidence through beauty. I offer services through my company  High Brows such as  Micro-Blading for permanent eyebrow makeup, Scalp Micro-Pigmentation, and more through Maryam Beauty. Yet, I must admit, acting remains my primary passion.

DT: Any brow care advice you can share with our readers?

MB: Brow care is unique to each individual. Understanding your face shape and keeping brows groomed is crucial. The market is inundated with brow products, and it's essential to remember that brows frame your face. My key tip: NEVER over-pluck your brows. I was introduced to micro-blading during a photoshoot, sparking my journey as a business owner.

DT: Retaining clients is paramount in our industry. How do you manage client retention amidst your hectic schedule?

MB: With microblading, clients typically return after six weeks for a follow up and then again after two years. While it's vital to follow up, attracting new clients is equally essential, and offering other services.

DT: Reflecting on your journey, what advice would you offer your younger self?

MB: I'd say, "Buckle up! Life's going to be a whirlwind of experiences, both beautiful and challenging. Embrace it all. Your past challenges shapes who you are."

DT: To conclude, Maryam, could you share what you're most grateful for?

MB: Every morning I wake up, I'm filled with gratitude. I'm thankful for my family, my faculties, and simply the gift of life. I cherish everything.
